It is often used as a sheer layer in a wedding dress over or , as it softens the outline of the gown and gives it an elegant and floating appearance. It is also used in blouses, ribbons, scarves and lingerie. The threads used in Georgette fabric are highly twisted, which causes them to crinkle slightly as they relax. They give the fabric a crinkly, crepe like texture, which feels slightly rough but gives the fabric a bouncy flowing look.
